About Us

Coming from a background of farming in the region, Nikki & Don Sarginson know the local conditions and how to grow quality grass that will thrive here. With over 10 years experience in the instant lawn business, they can provide you with expert advice for the perfect lawn.

Why our grass?

We use a Wanaka Stadium Mix (70:30 mix of rye:fescue grass) that has been chosen and developed specifically for the Central Otago climate. Grown locally (Wanaka), our turf copes well with both winter frost and the classic Central Otago hot summer.

Preparation & Installation

Aspiring Instant Lawn can be installed throughout year.

Spray to remove weeds
Cultivate the lawn area thoroughly to 100-150mm. Loosen soil and remove stones. Add good quality soil if required.
Level to the desired height. You will need 20 to 25 mm height below paths to allow room for lawn.
Apply fertilizer, rake in, and dampen. We can recommend a fertilizer mix appropriate for your particular soil.
Roll out the Instant lawn, butting the strips tightly together. Water immediately.
Water. Keep well watered for first three weeks until the lawn is established, then water normally.

Care & Maintenance

Our experienced team can give you all the advice you need on caring for your new Instant Lawn.

Watering
Water well but adjust for season. Watering in the early morning or evening is preferable in the summer months.

Mowing
Mow relatively high for the first few times, then to desired height once roots are established.

Fertilizer
Apply in autumn and again in spring if required.
